Ronald McDonald House Charities of N.C. Grants $8,000 to James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital through Vidant Health Foundation

Oct 06, 2016
The Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Carolina (RMHC of NC) has granted James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital through Vidant Health Foundation $8,000 to support women’s health programs.

Representatives from Eastern N.C. McDonald’s owner/operator, Donnie Powell and RMHC of NC representatives presented a check during a ceremony on Oct. 6 at the hospital.

With the donation, the Breast Pump Loaner Program will allow staff at Maynard Children’s to provide services to families in need. Although many mothers may qualify to receive breast pumps provided by the WIC program, there is often a ten-day delay until they receive the necessary equipment. The Breast Pump Loaner Program seeks to allow new moms to continue to pump during this waiting period.

Organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization recommend breast milk for newborn babies due to the health benefits during their first six months of life. The hospital serves almost 1,800 newborns each year and the grant will help ensure they get a healthy start.
