Roanoke-Chowan Foundation was created originally as a public foundation, and in 1997 became an independent private foundation with a mission of meeting health and wellness needs of the Roanoke- Chowan communities.

The Vidant Bertie Hospital Development Council was formed in the fall of 2005 with the mission “to build relationships and help secure financial resources to support the health and wellness services of Vidant Bertie Hospital."

Established in 1992, Chowan Hospital Foundation has a long history of partnering with loyal donors like you, who make direct impacts on the health of our community through generosity of your time, talent and treasure.

When we formed the Outer Banks Hospital Development Council in 2005, cancer services across our region were fragmented — and we wanted to do something about it. Our solution? Establish a single location where families in our community could turn for cancer information and support.

The Vidant Edgecombe Hospital Development Council is a 13-member organization that works in partnership with Vidant Edgecombe Hospital to raise funds to supplement programs, services and equipment that may not be included in the hospital’s annual budget.

Through public awareness and fund-raising events, the Foundation works to assist the hospital with needed capital projects, equipment purchases, program development and provided services. Some of the specific areas recently supported include stroke prevention, cancer care services, women’s care and men’s health.
